The heart behind Mrs. Victoria's Home Daycare
Hello, I'm Victoria Burman, the provider behind Mrs. Victoria's Home Daycare. I created this home daycare to offer families a warm, thoughtful, and organized child care option where children can feel safe, valued, and excited to learn.
I graduated with my diploma in Early Childhood Education in 2018 and worked with the Ottawa Carleton District School Board until 2024, when I opened my home daycare. My experience has shaped the way I view children: as capable, curious, competent individuals who learn best when they feel safe, connected, and free to explore.
I believe children should have time to play, wonder, move, create, ask questions, and discover the world around them. My role is to prepare a caring environment, follow children's interests, support their development, and provide steady routines that help them feel secure.
At Mrs. Victoria's Home Daycare, children are encouraged to take the lead in their learning. We spend time outdoors, explore open-ended materials, read stories, create art, build friendships, and practice independence through everyday routines.
Working with families is also very important to me. Parents know their children best, and I believe strong communication between home and daycare helps children feel supported. My goal is to work alongside families as a team, creating a positive and nurturing experience for each child.
Victoria's goal is to offer families more than basic supervision. Her program is intentionally planned using her Early Childhood Education background, while still keeping the warm, personal feel of a small home daycare. Children experience stories, music, movement, science, art, sensory play, outdoor exploration, early literacy, early math, and independence-building routines throughout the week.
The result is a program that feels organized and purposeful, while still allowing children to feel relaxed, connected, and at home.
I am honoured when families choose to trust me with their child's care. My hope is that each child who comes through my home feels safe, loved, confident, and excited to learn.
